"You Gotta See Them Play..."

"You gotta see them play..." Those words started this journey.

It was just another school day in November, 2009, and I was having a conversation with our after-school programs Site Coordinator, Jeff, and we were talking about the two amazing sisters - and students of mine - Frednesha and Fredriana. Jeff could hardly contain his enthusiasm as he described the natural ability these two have! Sure enough, a few days later, I got to see them in action. They dominate every basketball game in which they play. They lead in points, assists, and rebounds. You'll hear a lot more about those stats in future posts.

Frednesha and Fredriana love to laugh, goof off, draw, and play sports. They make friends wherever they go. They love to go to the movies and they love McDonald's. You're going to love getting to know them...

This blog is about more than just the basketball skills and abilities of two young ladies. You see, their gifts are only part of the story. The other part of the story is you - their friends, their families, their mentors, and their heroes - members of our community who are helping Frednesha and Fredriana realize their hopes, hoops, and dreams.

We will use this blog to chronicle Frednesha and Fredriana's journey on and off of the basketball court, where they currently play as elementary students. We are excited about where we're headed, so go with us, celebrate with us, learn with us, as we keep playin' and dreamin'!!!!!
